Neuroplasticity in the Digital Age: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Creativity
The Institute for Multidisciplinary Research in Art (ICMA) at the George Enescu National University of Arts, Iași (UNAGE Iași), through the 2025 ICMA–UNAGE internal research grants, organised, in partnership with the Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Iași, the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași, and the Choreography Section Association in Bucharest, the scientific conference Neuroplasticity in the Digital Age: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Creativity on 7 November 2025, in the Anton Diaconu Studio Hall in the University’s Artes Building.
Specialists in the fields of the arts, technology, and medicine from Iași, Târgu Mureș, and Brisbane (Australia) delivered public lectures. Within this interdisciplinary framework, the conference set out to explore the dynamic intersection between the brain and technology, to identify the effects of the interaction between neuroplasticity and artificial intelligence (not merely a science-fiction concept but an integral part of everyday life), as well as the influences on learning processes, thereby seeking answers to questions such as: can artificial intelligence stimulate human creativity, or, on the contrary, can it inhibit it?
A central aspect of the conference was the attention devoted to the transdisciplinary project STEM. Dance and Neuroscience, which investigates the relationship between dance, brain activity, and emotional response. Using state-of-the-art brain-computer interfaces (EEG and EMG), the researchers monitored in real time the neural signals of the dancers and the audience, highlighting the subtle correlations between movement and the cognitive dimension.
This conference responded to a genuine need, highlighting the challenges and opportunities involved in understanding the use of emerging technologies for the development of cognitive flexibility and creative thinking.
Conference held within the framework of the research project Neuroplasticity in the Digital Age: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Creativity, funded by the Institute for Multidisciplinary Research in Art at the George Enescu National University of Arts, Iași, through the 2025 ICMA–UNAGE internal research grants.
Project Director: Scientific Researcher Mirela Ștefănescu.
